Here, too, there is the manufacturer’s logo, the index model and the inscription Intel inside. Inside the box is a smart phone. In the box, you will find headset, USB-cable and AC charger of 2A. As already mentioned, the packaging clearly alludes to the fact that inside you will find something expensive and stylish.

Lenovo Ideaphone K900
Design and ergonomics
The first impression when you hold smartphone in your hand that it is huge. Indeed, with a 5.5-inch screen is not the most subtle side frames, the device does not look compact. Despite the fact that much of the housing is made of metal, Lenovo Ideaphone K900 is still the lightest among the models with 5.5-inch screen.
The design of the Lenovo Ideaphone K900 uses angles and flat surfaces. Perhaps if the rounded edge of the case, the smartphone look less dimensional. The housing of the body is made of a single piece of polycarbonate, and it is also having Corning Corilla Glass 2 on the front panel and the metal plate on the back.

On the front panel, you will find 2 MP camera, proximity sensor, and light, the speaker slot, 5.5-inch display and three touch keys with a barely visible icon. The backlighting of the display is also pretty good, well discernible in all conditions, and does not depend on the brightness of the display. For some reason, the keys are shifted to the display, which slightly reduces their usability.

On the left side is an oblong volume keys. On the right side wall there are Power / Lock key with not the most convenient location. The top end is empty; all the connectors are moved to the bottom. On the bottom you will find the headphone jack, MIC hole and Micro-USB-connector. Also, this phone supports the MHL and USB OTG.

The back side has no protruding parts rather than a camera. One of the interesting things about this Lenovo Ideaphone K900, thickness of 6.9 millimetres observed throughout the enclosure. At the very top, in the left corner, a 13 megapixel camera lens is framed by a rectangular rim, the right of the two LEDs flash at the center – the opening of the second microphone. The metal plate has a characteristic pattern and two logos, one embossed – Lenovo, the second logo is of Intel inside.

Build quality of Lenovo Ideaphone K900 is worthy of the highest ratings. The case does not creak or flex even when squeezed. Details closely matched to one another. Overall, Lenovo Ideaphone K900 gives the impression of an expensive thing that will serve you for a long time.

Lenovo Ideaphone K900
The operating system and shell

In order to comply with the concept of the flagship, Lenovo launched its smart phone in one of the latest versions of the operating system Android 4.2.1. Android is installed on top of a proprietary shell.
Lock screen in Lenovo Ideaphone K900 has a standard for devices based on Android functionality. At the top of the screen shows the time and date, beneath four shortcuts for quick access to phone calls, messages, camera, and unlock. To activate any of them, you need to pull it to the side.

On the lock screen you can go to the Notifications panel. It contains five icons responsible for the inclusion of Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, data, flight mode and sound profiles. If you have configured weather widget, then at the entrance to the notification bar will be present for some time animation corresponding to the current weather conditions.

A distinctive feature of the Lenovo shell is that, despite the high resolution screen, labels, captions and big icons just enough, so that the user does not have to peer. Unfortunately, some of the manufacturers do not think about it, releasing devices with high-resolution displays. As a result, for people with poor eyesight to work with small icons becomes a real torture. At best, the OS allows you to increase the font size, but for signatures shortcuts or icons are not affected.

Settings panel in Lenovo Ideaphone K900 consists of three tabs: “General Settings”, “Advanced Options” and “Show all”. In the first are the most commonly used settings with simplified features. For example, here you cannot choose the Wi-Fi network to which you want to connect to, just activate wireless module. The same is true in case of Bluetooth.
In the “Advanced Settings”, there are unique settings that can only be found at Lenovo. Some of them are created in order to do the work with your device handy. For example increase the volume when the phone is in your pocket. Apparently, this is activated by proximity sensor. When the smartphone believes that in your pocket, and you receive a call, will automatically be increased to a maximum volume of ring tones. It also set out from hibernation volume keys, lock shake, and choose the look of the notifications panel. It may contain one bookmark (simple form) or two (net).
Finally, “All parameters” contains the usual set of options. Something unusual could not be found. Summing up the shell from Lenovo, we note that despite the seemingly standard effects, simple animation, very often a transition between the windows desktop or application is accompanied by a list of notable troll. With the installed hardware platform and operating system version, its behavior is upsetting. It is difficult to understand what causes this reaction, but one thing is clear – the manufacturer still has much to optimize.

Hardware Platform

Lenovo Ideaphone K900 is based on the platform Intel CloverTrail+. System-on-chip is Intel Atom Z2580. Made on 32-nanometer process technology, it has become more consistent with the time, but still lags behind from most modern chips made at rates 28-nm process technology. SoC Intel Atom Z2580 features two processing cores with an x86 processor with a clock frequency of 2 GHz and a mode of Hyper-Threading, graphics accelerator PowerVR SGX544 MP2 (533 MHz), 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of permanent storage, of which 9.76 GB is available when connected to a PC (supports both MTP-protocol and the USB Mass Storage), and 2 GB for installing applications is available.
Intel does not cease to convince everyone that their processors are not only energy efficient, but also have good performance. But there is another side to the coin – it has increased heat, and at the peak of the CPU temperature reaches 50 °, which is really high and with the metal housing is a serious reason to think about what is more important, performance or comfort when working.
Built-in battery in Lenovo Ideaphone K900 has capacity of 2,500 mAh, it is enough for the active use of daylight or night-half, moderate use. The volume of the speakers or the headphones is pretty high, the sound is clear for any value of the volume. The data transfer speed in Wi-Fi-network is average, but sufficient for all situations.
Display

Lenovo Ideaphone K900 has a 5.5-inch IPS-display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and a pixel density of 401 PPI. The backlight intensity can be controlled manually or automatically. The minimum value corresponds to the light 20 cd / m ², 50% is 202 cd / m ², while the maximum – 410 cd / m ². Extreme values are comfortable for work in the dark and in bright sunlight. Good behaviour on the street contributes to the presence of anti-reflective layer and oleophobic coating.

Display color reproduction is close to the sRGB. Color temperature goes in cold tone, its value is in the area of 7000-7700K. Indicators gamma curve suggests that the bright colors are not displayed in full; the average is 1.9, at a rate of 2.2.

In general, the display leaves a good impression, among other things, it responds to the pressing any objects, just as it is implemented in the devices as of Nokia, due to highly sensitive layer.
Camera

The Lenovo Ideaphone K900 Smartphone comes with two cameras, the main with a resolution of 13 MP and an aperture of f/1.8, and the front with a resolution of 2 MP and a viewing angle of 88°.

Viewfinder interface contains a translucent band (right) with a button shooting mode, switch photo-video input and an icon in the gallery. The upper band of the camera screen is occupied by the pictograms on the far right is responsible for calling the shooting modes, including panorama, HDR, macro, etc., and advanced: the removal of movement, intelligent shot (for group photos), GIF and magic GIF. The last four are reinterpreted shooting modes in WP-smartphone Nokia. Unpleasant feature of the camera in Lenovo K900 is the fact that in all modes, except for the usual photos, picture resolution is set at 6 megapixels, if selected for the usual 9 MP photos, the ratio of 16:9, 5 megapixels, if you select a maximum resolution of 13 megapixels with 4:3 aspect ratio. In addition to shooting mode the user has choice of 24 different effects, but work with them accompanied by a marked troll, so the use of them is unlikely to be common.
Video recording can be carried out with a flash, image stabilization is also present and the choice of white balance.
The results

Smartphone Lenovo Ideaphone K900 – the flagship of the manufacturer. It is endowed with high-quality metal body having thickness of 6.9 mm and a record low weight as a smartphone with a 5.5-inch Full HD. In addition to the qualitative case it has place for a new hardware platform from Intel – Atom Z2580 (CloverTrail +), 2 GB RAM, 16 GB of internal storage and the possibility to connect external USB-drives via USB OTG. IPS-display has a near-natural color reproduction, wide viewing angles, good behavior in the bright sun and a maximum resolution of today. It is not clear situation with increased heat and power consumption. Part of the problem can be solved by using one of the modes, but their activation makes the phone responds to user actions is even more retarded. As a result, we have to choose between the relative smoothness of the interface and autonomy. If Lenovo can get rid of this shortcoming, Lenovo Ideaphone K900 smartphone will become even more attractive. As for the compatibility of the x86 architecture and applications for ARM-based processors, the only application where we noticed the differences in benchmark GLBenchmark, in which Lenovo K900 was able to run only half of the tests. All the others, for example, Real Racing 3, go with the highest level of graphics. MX Player on the first run prompts you to download the appropriate decoder for this architecture, although further work involves the player software, not hardware decoding, which is not the best way to affect the autonomy.
As a result, the Lenovo Ideaphone K900 smart phone can be described as good and more affordable alternative, if we compare to the other flagship of other manufacturers.
